Cherokee Levan was an outstanding performance horse and his conformation
was excellent. His head was not as refined as much as I would have liked
it, but he crossed well with my mares, throwing refined heads. He
accumulated 18 performance points before and after he was used as a
stud. They consisted of 8 trail points and 10 western pleasure points,
where he received his ROM. He was not shown further because he was
turned out with mares by age 2. However, Cherokee really shined in
producing champion show horses. Of his 76 foals, 14 were shown. Of these
performing horses, 11 horses earned a total of 216 halter points. 8
earned 208 performing points. 6 earned their ROM's, and two were APHA
superior horses. Three won Championship titles.
In regard to
youth horses, 6 horses earned 153 total halter points, and 7 earned 796
total performance points. He produced one APHA youth champion (Coy
Cherokee). 4 horses won 53 halter points on the amateur level, and 7
horses produced 92 performance points. Two horses won their ROM's on the
amateur level. Cherokee was also the grandsire of Gyro Gee, a 1992 APHA
champion. (see Nodak Chick Page)
